Why Farewell Fund exists
In South Africa, the average funeral costs tens of thousands of rand: money many families don't have set aside, especially when a death is sudden. For generations, families have turned to stokvels, church collections and word-of-mouth appeals to friends and neighbours to cover the gap.
Farewell Fund brings that same spirit of community support online, making it faster to reach the people who want to help, and safer for those people to give.
We built Farewell Fund around one idea: dignity shouldn't depend on how quickly you can reach people by phone.
