Is there a fee to start a fundraiser?
Starting a fundraiser is free. When someone donates, Farewell Fund adds an 8% Administration Fee (including VAT) and the payment processing fee on top of their donation, so the organiser receives the full amount given — nothing is deducted from the donation or the payout. The Administration Fee covers fraud prevention, customer support and platform upkeep; the processing fee is charged by our payment provider and shown to the donor as its own line at checkout. How quickly can I access donated funds?
Once your fundraiser is verified, you can request a payout at any time.
What happens if I don't reach my goal?
You keep everything you raise. Farewell Fund has no minimum goal requirement: every rand donated goes toward your family's costs.
Is my donation secure?
Yes. Payments are handled by an encrypted, PCI-compliant payment gateway built for South African giving. We never store your card details.
Can I donate anonymously?
Yes. When you donate, you can choose to hide your name from the public fundraiser page while still receiving a confirmation of your gift.
